Welcome aBoard! Have this bunny. That's totally what this is. A cute, fluffy bunny. It cannot be anything but a cute, fluffy, friendly, cuddly bunny. Keep that in mind. Always.

Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with most of those things, though I know there're at least a few people here who are.
And since I forgot to do this earlier, have a invite link to our Discord server, if you want to join us there.

I'm actually having carbonara right now, so I'll add it to the plate. Thanks for the link as well, I've only really skimmed that one.

Thanks, I think I certainly will.
My main fandoms are the MCU, Mad Max, Warhammer 40,000, Firefly, Cowboy Bebop and Fallout. I dabble in a bit of Familiar of Zero and Halo as well, but those are more infrequent.

My two cents are... by

That it's mostly a good place. It's not without its problems, but that is no reason not to poke your head in there; the problems aren't so big that they overshadow the good side. True, we're still trying to figure out what, exactly, the mods should and shouldn't do (and when, and how), but what can I say? It's a new venture.

Hello, and welcome aBoard! For your newbie gift, take this plate of freshly-made SPaGhetti!
Since you already seem to know what's what, I'll just point you to the the Constitution and let the others ask the questions. :)

Have your two cents. You'll probably want to hang on to them for discussions, so you can put them in.
So, what're your main fandoms?

Hello, everyone! I'm DrGonzo, or at least that's what I call myself. I found you guys during an extended trawling session on TVTropes, and thought that I'd see what this was all about. I've read the Wiki and Original Series over the last couple of days, and decided to introduce myself here.

Speaking as a non-chatter... by

... my main reaction is confusion.
What kind of place is the current chat? Is it a friendly, non-awful place that I should pop into? Is it home to a culture that should make you feel bad? Or maybe that culture's just different in ways that aren't immediately apparent? Is it very different to the IRC, or is it heir to the same cultural problems? A place for fun RPs or a place where abusive behaviour is brushed under the rug?
I guess, ultimately, the answer to all those dichotomies seems to be 'it's both'. But that's not an answer that's terribly reassuring to hear.

It's a pretty heavy thing to say, but it's got as much reaction as a boring speaker in Speakers' Corner.
Anyway, my take on this is that having mods for the channel is a step in the right direction; hopefully we'll be quicker on the ball next time.

Dungeon Crawler RP Reminder/Invitation by
on 2017-01-24 10:56:00 UTC
Reply
So I started a dungeon crawler RP on the T board near the end of November, and it's been slowly chugging along since then. Whilst I has my exams earlier in January I had to stop the RP because I couldn't find the time to keep updating it.
However, now I no longer have exams I've put up a new post for the RP and I've had... 2 responses. Thank you very much Ix and Granz for responding, however I don't feel I can really carry the RP on with just 2 people. Before I had to take my break I know Mattman and Aegis were regular posters, and so in part this is just a remind to them. It is also a reminder to the Alleb, SkarmorySilver, TheShyIon and Scapegrace who all created characters but have since become inactive.
The final point of this post (ATTN: Everybody else) is for those of you who aren't currently part of the RP, whether because you missed it when it was first announced, weren't here or whatever. Dungeon Crawlers is a post based dungeon crawling RP game done in rounds (of normally 48 hours), you don't need any previous experience in Role Playing to join, it's set in its own unique universe (that totally doesn't draw some inspiration from Pathfinder and D&D), and it is meant to be a fun, slightly comical experience. If anyone is interested, go to the T board and it is the 3rd (Third) thread down. We also use the Other RP channel on Discord for talking/RPing/stuff and even have our own unique role on there.

In this instance, I vote for one last chance, and a Permaban if he violates the Constitution, to be posted to the 'Board. I don't like the symbolic ban for a number of reasons, mainly those already posted - it feels off to give someone a consequence in absentia.
In further such issues, I like the idea of warnings, with a statue of limitations between warnings (ie, if it's been several months since the last time, they at least don't stack the same way. If it's been two and a half weeks, on the other hand… maybe three strikes and a Permaban.)

An explanation by

Yeah, that can be a bit tricky to navigate, especially when it's a twist on a common expression like this one is. My understanding is that, instead of "no one could pay me to leave" it's "only the Aviator could pay me to leave" ("pay" in this case is metaphorical--just meant as a way of making someone leave). I'm guessing it's there to avoid the implication that the Detective might stay there against the Aviator's will.
(Another common use of this expression is "you couldn't pay me to do that", where "that" is understood to be something the speaker wouldn't want to do. The thing has generally been mentioned or seen immediately before.)
Hope that helps (and the authors are obviously free to correct me and add context; this is what I'm reading into it, not something they've told me).

Hell, that's how Chris and Ami came to be in the first place. In general I agree with Neshomeh. Read as many spinoffs as you like, see what you're into/works really well, and go from there.
