Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!

I really appreciate the fact that people still - after literally two decades - want to write for the PPC. I don't want the Permission process to be a roadblock to that! I also get how frustrating it can be to want to write but be repeatedly told no. So for all those reasons I lean towards yes.
But... I'm worried about that "struggle[d] to get to grips with [...] the console, remote activator, and disguise generator" (per Nesh). I'm particularly worried because, before even getting Permission, you're looking for a beta for your first mission (and interlude?). And you're doing that when the "only point of contention from last [Permission request]" was the badfic you'd chosen. What is your plan if the badfic choice is an issue again? Would you scrap the mission you're looking to get beta'd?
... hang on, is that still this badfic? The one that Nova told you you shouldn't mission because it has been taken down? Because the title seems to match. Can you check that you've updated the badfic appropriately?
Coming back to the first point: how did you get on with the Permission Self-Check? I seem to remember it has some questions about basic PPC concepts that should help you know how you're doing on the kind of issues Nesh mentioned.

(I just wanna double check, but I also don't wanna dogpile and I don't want to... be putting my opinion in where it's not needed or wanted. Does that make any sense?)

Up front, your writing is pretty good. Your characters are interesting, and you definitely can do humor when you want to. If that were the only criterion for Permission, you would get it.
However, that's not the only criterion. All along, I've seen you struggle to get to grips with how the PPC works, including (per a conversation we had recently in DMs) essential concepts like the console, remote activator, and disguise generator.
You've continued to push for Permission anyway, and this is where I really have an issue at this point. It's been expressed to you more than once that the active Permission Givers are few and strapped for time and energy, yet you've chosen to post your fourth request right on top of Linstar's request. The posts are seven hours apart, so you ought to have seen Linstar's. That's rude both to the PGs and to Linstar.
At best, this shows a lack of situational awareness. At worst, it's a lack of respect for other members of this community. I shared a similar criticism at your last request, namely that your interactions with the community have come off to me as being primarily self-centered. In fairness, I have seen you respond to that criticism and try to do better, with what I'd call partial success. That's good. I appreciate it, and I think you're basically an okay guy, and I want you to continue on this path. With this post, though, it seems to me you still have work to do.
This is important: Writing for the PPC means using concepts created by and shared with other people, and it's expected both that you are aware of that and you respect it. I can't bring myself to trust that you understand this right now.
I want to say "Permission Denied" on that basis, and additionally I want to say "don't try again for a long time," both to give the PGs some space and to allow yourself to make stronger progress on the areas of understanding that need work.
But, I recognize that this is a more subjective call than usual, so I don't feel comfortable making it alone. I would like any other PGs and aspiring PGs watching to weigh in when they can. I am aware this might take time, and I appreciate whatever input you can give.

Didn't see that. Plus, I tend to stray long for my prompts and missions, so having something closer to my actual style would be more representative, and give a better vision of what I'll be bringing here.
And I'd be the coward that would join DF but scream when in the tiniest bit of trouble.
But, seriously, yeah. I find going through adventures to be fun, so why not? Besides, I'd get access to the disguise generator and could mess around with that. And I get to visit some of my favorite canons to boot! And I won't be at home! And... I really can't see why not, aside from the fact that I could die at any moment or I could go really insane and mentally break because the canons are warped...
But, yeah, I totally would, and I would want to be in an action department to boot! Although the Flowers would probably assign me a non-action department because overeager agents are not the best agents, I think?
-kA, who is thinking about shoving a more fully fleshed-out, closer to them self insert into the PPC. Maybe.
That site did NOT make it easy for me to see I was not actually logged into my account, which I was absolutely convinced I had been this whole time. How exciting!
New skill learned! Achievement unlocked! What a time to be alive.
Thanks. =D
I mean, it might be dangerous and all, but it’s steady employment plus a retirement plan and magic dental. I would probably see about writing for the Monitor, or doing something clerical somewhere. I’m not much for action.
Meeting all my characters would be something else, though.
If you could, would you join the in-universe PPC? And if so, in what capacity?
I personally think it would be fun—and probably dangerous, if I actually could. But I wouldn’t want to be in DMS or Bad Slash. Maybe DTE? Or one of the Infrastructure Departments.
—Ls, who’s curious as to what others say.
You may need to be logged into your Fandom account to use it, though, because I think it might be locked to those who are logged out?
I would love to link my most recent mission from there but I cannot figure out how. XD
(Watch me figure it out immediately after posting about it; that would be very on-brand for me.)

Sorry, clearly I'm having some difficulty figuring out which Jacqueses are in things that will get published and things that won't -- I thought, briefly, that "Expose" was going to involve the Potterverse AU Jacques, and then it wasn't that one. Ah well!
And by "otherwise stated", I mean something along the lines of "copied into a doc and cleaned up a little, and posted with the permission of everyone involved." That or just having chunks or elements of it worked into an interlude or mission or whatever else. I did a fair amount of RPing on the PPC discord back in the day, and it was always either for fun or to develop characters (or both, really) by playing around with them or versions of them. This is why there's an orchestra of Jacqueses to begin with: I was trying to get a better handle on his character, and it turned out a, AUs were very good (and fun) for that, and b, he somehow lends himself extremely well to AUs. But absolutely none of that should be assumed to be canon unless actually stated to be, especially since so much of it is AUs. Some of them I'd be happy to have as canonical (official?) AUs! But for the most part, they currently absolutely are not.
Re: Jacques meeting his AU counterparts, this was an idea I had (and started writing) in 2020, as a silly thing to entertain us all with. I did, of course, proceed to get busy, and then very busy, so ultimately I have 3-4 docs, none of them finished, some started in 2021 and even 2022...hopefully I'll eventually be able to post some or all of them. We'll see. (Of course, the general idea that Jacques should meet his AUs predates 2020, but that was when I finally found a viable concept for how.) Currently, none of the docs include a dragon AU Jacques (I'll confess, I haven't gone far enough into this thread to actually know which one we're talking about, though I expect it's the one where The PPC is Dragons) (ETA: yup, it's the one I was thinking of), and I'm not sure I actually plan to write one with that AU in play, but in theory, who knows. Maybe it could work as a very short piece?
~Z, hopefully actually clarifying something as opposed to just sleepily writing out information
I've got a pile of art and Google doc RP transcripts for a mountain of Jacques AUs that Zing and I used to develop Liu Siyuan and his homeworld. But those are highly character-centred and don't necessarily affect the rest of the PPC. Some of them don't even have the PPC in it since they take place solely in LSY's home continuum.
Jacques is a funny sort of character for this, too. He's a Jack Harkness replacement, which would roughly make him an AU Jack Harkness by default, so an AU of Jacques is like an AU of an AU. But I do think Zing has plans to make Jacques meet his AU counterparts, one of which is the dragon one, so...
My thought process leading to the initial post was "Hey, hS is making an AU list, cool! And wasn't there that dragon AU that we messed with a few years back? I should mention it."
Since all that happened in chat RPs (which are both generally non-canon and harder to canonicalize due to not being on the fully public internet), it probably isn't a good fit for your list as it stands.
The options I can think of for clearing this up are a combination of
Both of those will take time, though on the writing front, a short interlude where Peregrin hops multiverses and meets dragon!Peregrin is starting to take shape in my brain - I'll keep the Board posted if it turns into actual writing.
The Permission page has been updated, after discussion. Now you just need one 600-word sample.
The text itself is pretty good, though. Not sure what else to say.

They're fun places to throw around ideas, but they're very difficult to discover after the fact. We've also never enforced a Permission boundary, and obviously they're very hard to beta-read and edit. I believe (don't quote me) that some things have been canonized, either in reference or in actuality, but that's a thing that's been done after the fact.

Ye Olde Verse is the closest it gets. *
*Strictly speaking this isn't true. In this post, SunAndMoon asked the same question and gave a couple of options. In this reply I worked through the idea of the PPC as existing across time and transcending any one incarnation; I hit at least three points in the Medieval period. But that model is not seriously considered by DAS and the theorists.

Version 4 has had a few minor edits, including:
> Editing RC number to fit with proper numbering
> Changing target for the first mission. (The only point of contention from last time.)
> Expounding slightly on Winfrey and Noman's abilities, attachments and weaknesses.
