Ignore the quality of this fic; what I'm merely discussing is the OC names. You see, this is a Tolkien fic, and the OCs are elves, but their names seem rather suspicious, and not only because two of them appear to actually have a surname. I don't speak any elvish language, but names like Ailwin Luvrye sound at least a little sus.

Student's Name: Jacob Ethrax. Not Jake.
Species: Human. He thought about putting half-human to add an air of mystery, but wasn't sure what the other half was.
Age: 16
Gender: Male. He/him.
Appearance: Average height, quite skinny. Brown hair which is just long enough that it tends to scruffy. Would like to consider his face to be gaunt and pale, but actually his cheeks are a bit chubby, he has lots of freckles, and at least one big spot that just won't go away. Wears mostly black, including a long black coat which he likes to swish around "dramatically".
Personality: Jacob believes he would be the perfect secret agent. Unfortunately his attempts to sound suave or mysterious actually come out cripplingly embarrassing, and he only registers this a second too late. Gets quietly sullen if there's a plan to be made and someone /else/ makes it - particularly if he 'had that idea first' but only vaguely alluded to it.
Favorite Character: The red one. He has only seen the show when his little sister Melissa was watching, and he never got the red robot's name. Also, if there are multiple red robots, he is unable to remember the difference between them.
Anything else noteworthy?: Has written two fanfics of the show: one for Melissa, who asked, about several bits with misremembered names saving the world; and one where he and his friends (or rather the people he would like to be his friends, but now they're all secret agents but still 16) taking a portal to the show and being the best at everything.
One of those friends is an alternate version of Agent Lou of the PPC. She is fully aware of this, because all her versions are still her. He isn't.
~
Cripes, that's embarrassing to write out. Do something horrible to him for me?

It’s just my prediction for what would happen if someone tried pairing Alexandra and Dolores anyway :P
As for Lola, it’s a diminutive of Dolores, which will hopefully help distinguish her from Dolores Madrigal (besides her… everything else, anyway).

Once I've got a couple of chapters written I'll put it up on FFn and maybe AO3; then it can have a wiki page.

I reckon we can squeeze Dolores (is she Lola now? How is she Lola?) and Alexandra in together; I already have Alexander's room down as one where the candle goes out pretty quickly, so shifting Dolores in won't hinder that.
The only downside is that it puts probably the two strongest personalities together, which means that the /other/ rooms will be a bit quieter. (My tentative notes had Dolores with Elodia, who would be utterly convinced by everything she said. But that can happen outside the dorms.) But then, dorm room drama isn't a major plot point, insofar as there's even a plot.

gasp of offense “The fact that I don’t speak Nahuatl is actually proof that I am a victim of imperialism and not a perpetrator, unlike you!”

While it’s fine to claim a Legendary, it’s also generally recommended a newbie write a couple missions that aren’t to Legendaries before they tackle the Legendary. This is so the rest of us really know you understand the setting and how missions work. Think of it as a final boss in a video game — you don’t take that on until you’ve taken out easier bosses.
The fic isn’t going to go anywhere, and Legendaries as a whole are, as mentioned in this thread (or another recent thread), difficult to turn into a funny, enjoyable mission. Work on being able to write something funny and enjoyable before you take on Starkit, okay?
Please don’t take this as me harshing your buzz. I was the overexcitable newbie at one point, too, but even I learnt at some point that sporking fanfiction isn’t an emergency. I got Permission in 2008 and only now have I written a mission to a Legendary-calibre fic. Many people never do it, and that’s also okay.

The first-person example you mentioned would just spawn a normal mini instead of a Huzat. Also, I chose waffles because... I dunno. And they only spawn if the error was unintentional, like minis.

I was thinking Lola would be a good fit for Alice or Sophie because she could
bully themenable them into making fools of themselves when something Lola says “all Latinos do” turns out to be super region-specific and definitely not Colombian, but if Alexandra is the sort who’d call Abuela abusive she’ll probably get into a sandal slapfight with Lola, hehe.(Incidentally I’ve had the idea of “Surface Pressure” being filked to become something about the burden of not feeling like you’re doing your own culture justice when you write fic about it, which would be an interesting second layer to Lola… Much To Think About)

Rescue Bots Academy for Fanfiction Signups! by

I've had this OFU idea for a while (I think since I learned they were A Thing, which was probably January 2020) of a Rescue Bots OFU. I call it: Rescue Bots Academy for Fanfiction! With a variety of classes, including "How to Steal and Sell Power," "Villains 101," "How to Actually Write a Script/Play," and, of course, "SPaG: What Is It?"
As well as other classes.
I need student submissions! You don't need to know a ton (or any!) Rescue Bots! I decided to (finally) formalize the form after hS started the Encanto OFU. Here it is:
Student's Name:
Species (Human, half-human, or cybertronian):
Age:
Gender:
Appearance:
Personality:
Favorite Character:
Anything else noteworthy?:
Let's break it down, step-by-step:
Student's Name: Any Earth name. If your fanfic writer is silly enough to select "cybertronian" on species, then please put in parentheses what their 'bot name is.
Species (Human, half-human, or cybertronian): Self-explanatory.
Age: Between the age of 13 and 20, please!
Gender: What your character's gender is and their preferred pronouns. Please also note which one the narrative should use.
Appearance: Be brief! If cybertronian, then explain what they look like and what their second form is. Please no extravagant second-forms (so no big, passenger airplanes) but useless ones are fine (like a not-normally-sized electric train)
Personality: Be brief! Are they bouncy, shy, energetic, quiet, bossy?
Favorite Character: As in, favorite Rescue Bots character. If you don't know any, I can assign one, but if you really want your character to lust after Kade, then put Kade.
Anything else noteworthy?: What types of fic do they write? Their biggest writing flaw? Anything else I should know, like allergies?
And I think that's it. I already have a couple of characters created, and I don't care how many people sign up! I want to try and incorporate them all. Thank you in advance for signing up

And when they're speaking Spanish, it seems as though they should definitely use usted (not tú) when speaking to staff members—and anyone else, too. I guess usted is more prevalent in Colombian Spanish than in other forms. TIL.

I’m super excited for this one! Ever since I read the OFU’s, I always wanted to participate in an active one (although I think the only one I would have qualified for [ie, the only one I wrote badfic for] would have been the OFUR). Please room Katherine with someone who likes Luisa or Camilo, please. I can guarantee that there will be a fight. (Also, small note, she’s about 5’7 since I’m pretty sure I wasn’t 5’8 yet at 14? IDK, I haven’t grown much.)
