Oh good Glod I am officially old. I want to complain that there's no appropriate gender tickybox for me because I'm a woman, not a girl. When did this happen? How?

... I got home from my work (geology-based) and found three male geologists in my bed. So I got in too and we all talked about gold mineralisation!
... the disturbing thing is that THAT STORY IS TRUUUUUUE.

I have to tell you, Sedri: I've lived with a geologist, so I know what it's like to take them places and listen to much description of random (and not-so-random) rocks. In a museum, we always spent the most time in the gems and minerals section.
And I relate all this with the utmost affection.

I wrote a Pern piece, long ago. This was before words like "Mary Sue", "self-insert", and even "fanfiction" were even in my vocabulary. I remember giving it to a teacher to edit. I think she thought it was an original piece.
At least I still knew back then that it wasn't fair to have my main character automatically the best at everything. Still, it was pretty boring.

I find your agents quite interesting -- they're so different, and yet they still manage to work effectively (or, as much as possible given their profession).

That was... interesting. Very, very interesting...
I'll take either, or both, of the Minis, if you haven't already found homes for them...
And I think that in this case, just a Mini version of the misspelled party is appropriate...
I'll stop with the ellipses abuse... maybe... sometime... I swear...

Have you seen the latest xkcd about it?

Another NCIS mission: Before the Worst which I just hope is not an announcement for a sequel.
Two minis from the badfic. I haven't named the mini type yet. Couldn't think of an evil that lasted series through.
That said, anyone want to adopt either Jethrow or Gobbs?

I've been cautious to accuse Torchwood fic of OOCness. I'm always keeping an eye out / hoping that in later chapters it is revealed there was an alien mind control thing or something going on.
Is never the case though.

Another canon-Sue is the character Jackie Knox from the show Voyagers! She takes over the "saving the day" job from the canon characters and both canon males fall for her. There's no reality altering spell or mind control going on here; it was just bad writing by the canon authors. Luckily, in the next episode they had forgotten all about her.

Canon Mary-Sues of a different kind... by

I just watched the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Superstar," in which a minor character casts a spell to make himself the best of everything, and changed everyone's memories so that they thought he'd always been that awesome. Joss Whedon wrote it specifically to make fun of Mary-Sue fanfic.
Then I remembered the Torchwood episode "Adam," which involved an entity who altered people's memories to make him think he'd always been there, although it was a lot creepier than the Buffy episode. And it got me wondering if there were any other characters like that, and if the PPC had investigated these phenomena. It seems like such characters could give the agents some insight into the reality-warping nature of Mary-Sues.
