I'm trying to figure out where the crossover would happen, and I'm coming up short. Unless... *woo-woo dream transition*

Mario dodged, the thunderbolt striking the ground where he had stood just a moment ago. The castle roof-top was slippery, the tiles crunching slightly beneath his plumber's boots. In the distance, the trees waved in the wind.

"Pii-pika!" cursed Pikachu, zipping over Mario with a horizontal quick-attack.

werp-Werp-WERP went Mario as he taunted the little electric mouse. He jumped, colliding with Pikachu as he scattered coins everywhere.

The window beneath the fighting pair snapped open. "If you can't keep it down, you'll have to fight elsewhere," said a very irritated Professor McGonagall. "You are distracting my Transfiguration class!"

WERP-Werp-werp went Mario, returning to his usual size. Pikachu's ears went down as they ceased their battle and shuffled toward the stairs.

"I-a told-a you we should have-a fought in-a Corneria," said Mario.

*woo woo dream transition*

What would happen if a canon character fell through a plothole? I think we'd neuralyze them, but what if it was somebody savvy enough to avoid it? Somebody from the MIB canon (where the Neuralyzer originated), would be nigh- to completely-impossible to wipe (After all, the glasses make them immune to it). And the Doctor would probably not fall for the "look at the pretty lights" gambit. In fact, he'd probably be smart enough to avoid it altogether. And Rincewind would just run away from anybody. Let's (for the sake of argument) assume it was the Doctor. Assuming he did get away (which he probably would) what if he found a DORKS? He'd definitely get it to work with a little jiggery-pokery and a nudge with the sonic screwdriver, and...

Well, let's just say you'd have the makings of the next Crisis. If if was one of the earlier Doctors, things would be really bad. Remember the Five Doctors? If you pick one Doctor out of the timestream, all the successive ones will follow. The whole Who canon would be without it's keystone, and the whole universe would begin to collapse-- spurting itself out into Headquarters like air rushing out of a hole in a balloon. And the Who canon has 42 years of shows, TV-movies, radio plays, and EU novels behind it, plus 42 years of Fanfiction, clinging remora-like to it's very plot. Especially crossover fanfiction. As Who went down, the tiny links of crossovers would begin to pull at every series it's crossed with with the full weight of those 42 years. Star Trek might be the first to go down with it-- it's canon is still weakened from the retcons of the most recent movie, and their long-running and compatible sci-fi natures mean that there's huge masses of crossovers between them. And if Trek goes down... well, it's even bigger than Who, with all its novelizations, spin-offs, and enourmous fanbase. In fact, the combined weight of both Trek and Who might be enough to bring down Harry Potter, weakened as it is by the continuing pileup of fanfic! And as you know, Potter is linked to everything. Once it goes, it would be like a chain of dominos falling, or a nuclear chain reaction in reverse. The whole Multiverse could collapse, draining every Word World and funneling it straight into Headquarters!

And remember Real-World fanfiction, where fictional characters wind up in World One (or vice-versa?) Those strings would be tugged as well, and even World One would be sucked through the plothole and squirted out into Headquarters.

That would be bad. Please tell me there are safeguards to stop this?

I don't think opinions can totally *make* someone a bad person or not. It's how you treat others whose opinions differ that counts.

(I don't like the Inheritance Cycle. I read the first two books and got so angry at all the geological fail I couldn't bring myself to read the other two. But I equally don't like the idea that the PPC could decide that any given canon 'doesn't count' and doesn't get our protection. So yay Inheritance Cycle PPC :D )

Oh, working in a different colour to their text helps. Sometimes my documents end up as a technicolour marvel before it's ready to post.

I was led to the webcomic "Jack" by a bad review, and still agree with several of the points from it (all the ones which *didn't* blatantly show that the critic hadn't actually read more than about three pages, which he clearly hadn't, but still made one or two valid points - why the heck DID that kid randomly bring a gun to school with him on the day the other kid just happened to go on a killing spree?), but grew to like it anyway. I like it when that happens because then I don't get defensive when people criticise it ^_^

Hell, I see it as a good thing - there's *bound* to be Inheritance Cycle badfic out there, right? And so far none of us has taken it on. You can therefore one day boldly go where no PPC member has gone before :)

IMPORTANT WARNING: This fic contains graphic non-con. We've taken out most of it, as we usually do, but for those of delicate dispositions, we warn you.

The second: http://rc45.dreamwidth.org/110814.html - 'I Will Never Stop Loving You', rated PG, fluff, BBC Robin Hood. It's sickly sweet, horribly written and makes absolutely no sense in terms of characterisation. But the worst the characters get up to is kissing, so it's not so bad.

But it brought out the WORST parts of the book. It was like it was done by guys holding up card-board cut-outs of the actors. In fact the acting might have been done better if it HAD been done by card-board cut-outs. But the riff-trax (same guys who did MST3K) of it was brilliant. Worth the $4.

It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Almost as good (or bad, I suppose) as Clash of the Titans. Haven't seen New Moon, though.

Nah its fine, the worst you'll hear is people bemoaning it.

I like the first Book of Inheritance but when the second came out it was like... he was trying too hard.

And with Twilight I was sucked into THAT little whirlpool of obsession until I read Breaking dawn. And then I said 'what was I thinking' and moved on. Thankfully I only purchased the books and not any merchandise. my Twilight books now reside in the Attic never to be touched again. The Twilight movie (haven't seen 2) only cemented that fact.

I liked the first one reasonably well. Could barely get through the second, but I liked the first.

but I've seen Inato make an appearance in several other fics.

And Grey too, of course, because not everyone decides to look up whether it is Gray or Grey.

Poor Makes-Things. I didn't want him to die. But you're certainly right - I think perhaps we should draft this article as a group, no?

Ah, that's all right - it happens. Besides, now you have a mini-me to contend with. :P

Not in my mind. I like it, even if I don't think that it's at all a shining example of literature.

The main one is, of course, Makes-Things. I assume that, like good newbies, people read the Original Series, and Makes-Things is fun. Unfortunately, he's dead, so using him would be bad. But that tidbit's hard to find unless you're looking for it.

I can't think of any other similar things at the moment, baring perhaps the retirement of Jay and Acacia, which is easier to find, but I'm certain there are other, little things like that which, while not as important as Major Events, are more crucial when actually writing missions.

Might I suggest that instead of a "PPC History" page, which doesn't seem like it would have much useful content, why don't we make an article that sort of touches on all major points about life in the PPC today which a newbie will need to know about before they start writing stories - the lack of solid directions, things like that; bits and pieces that we all take for granted but that aren't always obvious to newcomers?

Well, damn. -shrugs- Oh well. I'm sure they'll get over it. It's not like they don't have a whole month to think things over before I request permission.

I too read and tolerated Twilight. Well, up until the release of Breaking Dawn, after which point I examined them again and decided that I had better things to squee over in my spare time. But I still enjoy twisting the characters until they break (have I mentioned anywhere yet that I'm a sadistic author?), which, for me, is a mark of affection. If we can like Twilight, you can like Eragon. 'Sides, someone has to agree to work in that canon, and you seem to be the only candidate.
