And by a bit I mean a lot, because this show is great and if you're not watching it you should be.
I just watched episode 18.
All I have to say about it is that Gendo Ikari is probably the Antichrist if not the Devil himself, and he needs to go take the Spear of Longinus up the die in a fire. RAH. }= <

We tag their stories as "dubiously canon" and put a message explaining how they don't mesh well with our attitudes and writing style.

Except with me, it was a massive multicontinuum blending- er, crossover featuring obscure mobile games, Mary Sues and Gary Stus galore, and just about ever piece of media I'd consumed to that point.
It's where I originally came up with Leo and Aeris, although at this point they're both entirely different characters sharing a name and species.
And hey, at least you didn't write any badfic down. Meanwhile, I've got two versions of Whitefang and the Animatronics to my disgraced name.

...well, you have a point. And I just went through updating an agent page with 10+ new stories that I hadn't kept a thorough list of dates for.
So, because of those two factors, I've decided to go through my GDocs stories (including the cowrites with Iximaz, who's said she's fine with it) and add in the publication date and when it's set. That should help with chronology, both for me and for anyone looking at 2013-2019+. It won't all happen at once--there's some hunting down of details involved--but I've started.
(Funnily enough, all the GDocs stuff was supposed to be transfered or crossposted to...well, formerly LJ, now Dreamwidth. I just kind of stopped at some point--I think it was just easier to run with GDocs, especially since a lot of it was cowritten at that point.)
Anyway: I'm pretty happy with this decision, and honestly wish I'd thought to do it earlier.

Hey, no worries. I've got some horrible grimdark stuff in my past, personally. I was a very edgy middle schooler. I never had the attention span or courage for fanfic, but if I had I probably would have had some embarrassing PJO Sues. Daughter of Kronos, maybe.

There are still people going around insisting we're bullies out to attack anyone who doesn't agree with our elitist fanfiction regime, after all. The attitude explicitly displayed on that account would be a great point in their case with nothing on our side to refute it.
I agree that something feels a little skeevy about up and denouncing a person who isn't even around anymore, but on the other hand, that's who they were twelve years ago. It's not about them as a person now, it's about how they expressed themself twelve years ago, and making it known that we're actually not cool with that sort of thing now and wish it hadn't happened then.
So, that's my case. I don't know if it's a good enough case, though, which is why I didn't unilaterally decide to do it. {= )

... I've just gone through and datestamped all* of Dafydd's missions and interludes. There's only two DOGA plugs preserved in the archives, but they just happen to fall such that there's only two stories they can link up to. So I've got a surprising number of precise dates in there.
The spreadsheet is about half done, I think.

Jack started out as a wildly OOC AU version of Jack the canonical Magic Tree House character. That AU only ever existed in my head, since I was maybe six at the time and hated writing things down, but I still cringe when I look back on it.
Harvey showed up a few years later in something about ghosts and buried treasure and kids with superpowers. I figured it would be safe to stick Jack in there, since the only thing he had in common with his canon counterpart at this point was a first name. I abandoned that story after a few pages. I did not have a large attention span in those days.
It's an embarrassing story even by badfic standards. :P

Jack and Harvey thank you, too. They've been hanging out in my head for the past ten years with very little to do. :D
I just assumed the DORKS didn't disguise itself while not on missions. *shrugs*
*fixes smart quotes* Got it.
Jack shouldn't have any problems unless he and Harvey encounter a suicidal Sue. That's something I learned from Lily Winterwood and Agent Christianne, actually: don't bring up a character's past trauma unless it becomes relevant. (And yes, poor Derik. But he has Gall and Thoth, so I'm not too worried about him.)
Thank you again!

But I'm veeeeery leery of the idea of retroactively declaring someone an Unsuitable PPCer, 12 years after the fact. (Do you remember Bast leaving over Artemis objecting to her style of RPing elsewhere? It's not the same, but it has resonances.)
The story is... not very good, no, but doesn't actually misrepresent the PPC. Agent Sen pretty much points a CAD at a building, turns on an off-label DORKS, and then tells a bunch of weird OCs to put their hands up. The man in grey isn't represented as a PPCer.

But I did like your samples! The first prompt was genuinely heartwarming. The characters give me a fairly strong slice-of-life vibe. I am curious- what's Harvey's original story? Is he from the same one as Jack? It's a bit hard to tell.
Looking forward to your first mission!

Tangential question: Can we make this out-of-continuity? by

This profile and its two stories (well, only one actual story) being the thing in question. Who's Asking claims they got Permission back in 2007, and I guess it could have happened, but we certainly wouldn't give it to them now, with the attitude they display. The writing's not so good, either. It's basically everything we've worked really hard NOT to be. {= /

I've seen you around, you're cool, and I have very little critique for you.
The main bit of critique I have is for the second story, in which you spend all this time building up the mystery of where the DORKS is hiding and then don't tell us what funny thing it's disguised itself as! ... Unless it was the headphones? But if that's the case, it wasn't clear that the headphones weren't just headphones. It reads like Harvey finds the headphones, then finds the DORKS under them or something.
To be fair, I have heard the headcanon (from Ix, I think) that the DORKS only disguises itself on missions, so if that's what you're going with it's fine, but I'm old-school, and I say never pass up the opportunity for a sight gag. {= P
(That's actually serious PPCing advice. Always be looking for a way to make a funny scene funnier. {= D )
Also, a small mechanical issue: make sure to fix your smart quotes so they're pointing the right way after an em dash. You've got a couple places where someone's speech is broken up with dashes, and the open-quote of the second bit of dialogue is facing the wrong way.
I do worry a little about things getting too heavy with Jack, but he reads very enjoyably, so I think it'll be fine. Also, I'm hardly in a position to talk. ^_^;
Go forth and spork, young human!
