He knew right away he'd messed up by letting Tash make him so angry. He was a god, and one of the nice ones, too; he wasn't supposed to act like this, especially not in front of regular people. The trouble was, Tash was striking close to home, maybe even more so than she realized. The Ellimist's future tangled up with his past and made the present extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing.

But he wouldn't let that show. He crossed his arms over his chest and stood there like he'd done exactly what he meant to do and tried to pretend he didn't care what Julian/Estril and Rebecca thought about it.

Yavanna was on stage again. The Small Auditorium was packed, with agents and other PPCers standing in the aisles where they couldn't get a seat.

He could feel them, in the pulse of life they shared, the song that spread its branches through every mind and heart. By his words, he could raise them up until the worlds were a blanket of green below them, or burrow down with them through the warm earth, into the very heart of Life.

And there, in the front row, smiling up at him, was Ananke. He waved at the old lady, grinning as he remembered how startled he had been when he first met her, and how much she had done for him. He thought about dedicating the next song to her, or even calling her up on stage - and then he noticed the tears running down her cheeks.

With perfect clarity Yavanna saw Ananke's lips move, and heard her voice whisper in his mind: I love you. I'll miss you.

But you were never a god.

The song ended.

And Tanfin Illian was left standing on the stage, faced with a crowd of 500 PPC agents, and an aching hole in his heart where the music used to be.

((Any god writers - I would love to see your own ending scenes. Any who don't get written, I will one-liner into place, but I'd love to see as many as possible done by their authors.

((So this is how it ends. In the space of a couple of hours, Ananke pays a visit to each of the gods and revokes their powers and their godhood. Precisely how she does it is up to you: to give you a feel for how broad the options are, the line in my head for Tash was "All stories end - even yours". Since Tash has an active writer, that one's not going to be used. ^_~

((There is an explanation for this, and for how the whole Recurrence happened. That's going to be the very last scene of the RP, so you don't get to see it yet. :P

((I really hope that the ongoing RPs - Tash, Stone, and the Yavanna-Ellimist one I've got going with Nesh off-Board - will be finished. And if there's any more out there, please, feel free - there's always space for another issue! This has been a really fun setting, and I don't want it to wind up with splintered fragments instead of endings.

But there's no need to be fatalistic - if you can write to a basic standard and show an understanding of the PPC, you should be golden. That's all we're checking for, plus a reasonable level of activity (ie, the 'do we know who you are?' standard). I'm guessing you're active on the chat rather than the Board, so I wouldn't be able to do that part myself.

Basically that's getting permission to write stories. I was planning to hold it off until I wrapped up my versions of Brutal Legend and Tales Of Vesperia (Both can be read at either fanfiction.net or DeviantArt), But something came up that prompted me to get things rolling earlier than planned. So, basically I need to provide a sheet with my team's basic bios, and at least two writing prompts and leave it all to fate. That about right?

Smeagol makes a tiny cameo in Witches Abroad, shortly before Nanny Ogg gets a house dropped on her and her red boots almost nicked. Is there a Discworld presence that might have dragged him in?

Actually, what kind of fic is this? I've been assuming it's a "multiverse all mashed together" thingy, but some things you've said suggest it could be as simple as "the Borg (and everyone else) discover multiverse travel". The latter would give His Gollumishness no excuse at all, whichever version he is.*

[*Though a story where Gollum accidentally discovers that the Ring will let him shift between parallel worlds might be kind of hilarious if done right - by which I mean, if Gollum remains completely Gollum. He lands on Dagobah, turns invisible, tries to eat Yoda, is immobilised with the Force and given a stern talking to which he shifts away in the middle of. Lands on the Enterprise, hides in a Jeffries tube for three days, then shifts away when Geordi finds him. Etc etc. Actually it sounds kind of tedious.]

One reason I like Sergio's World Without Authors setting is that it neatly avoids a lot of the pitfalls you talk about. If a character's too powerful, or knowledgable, or you just don't know how to write them - forget sidelining, they just didn't make it across. Simple as that. ^_^

I originally planned to do so before the end of the month, but we have two RPs that are getting close to finished, and I don't want to interfere with that. Should I hold off until the drama with Tash has wrapped up, and the cats have engaged in some recreational chasing? Or should I start it off now and it can run in parallel.

I'm also aware that the Badfic Game is coming up next month... I have A Plan for that too, but obviously that relies on me being the one to start it, and it's been pushing earlier and earlier in the month these last few years. Are we able to keep an RP or three going underneath the Badfic thread?

How could I forget about O Fortuna? It's wonderful. I remember listening to it on a Carl Orff concert CD my uncle owned when I was a kid and being blown away. I don't know why I haven't listened to it more in the years since.

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is also amazing. Another of my favorite pieces is the William Tell Overture by Rossini.

Yeah, I'm not really a music nerd, but I do have a lot of love for it right now. So I decided to go ahead with that ramble about my favorite pieces of classical and opera music after all, plus a bonus from a musical because that singing. I won't provide links because as we know links always break eventually, especially for older videos like a lot of those I listen to, but as of right now all these pieces are available on Youtube. And yeah, most of it's really basic stuff like Four Seasons, but there are a couple in there that might be new to some of you folks if you read this.

• Nicole Scherzinger's Phantom of the Opera performance - Her voice! And four Phantoms on the same song!!
• Bedřich Smetana - The Moldau - Literally the only thing I liked about my tyrannical high school music class was listening to this piece. It's mesmerizing. I recommend Herbert von Karajan's version with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
• Maurice Ravel - Bolero - This one was shown also to my high school class... by one of our literature teachers so we'd have a break in studying during finals season. She was so cool, guys.
• Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca - One of my favorite piano pieces since I was a toddler watching musical cartoons on the Hungarian cartoon channel. I love it to bits.
• Paul de Senneville - Mariage d'Amour - My other favorite piano piece.
• Antonio Vivaldi - Spring - Basic stuff, yeah, but it's so pretty! I also like Edvin Marton's reimagining of it a whole lot.
• Johannes Brahms - Hungarian Dance No. 5 - I mean, I am Hungarian. For bonus fun, listen to Martynas's accordion version. It always makes me want to dance.
• Paul Halley - Winter - I've mentioned it before in the original post in this thread, but I'd been madly in love with this piece since my first listen... a good couple of years ago, actually.
• Johann Sebastian Bach - Saint Matthew Passion, final chorus - The most beautiful classical choral piece out there aside from Veni Veni Emmanuel, and I'll die on that hill. The instrumental cover by E. S. Posthumus is also gorgeous.
• Jean-Baptiste Lully - Les Folies d'Espagne - Lully has a whole lot of respect from me as a composer because he was both very talented and very gay. I don't usually dip into Baroque music, but I remember this piece from a history class and it really stuck with me.
• Johann Sebastian Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor - It is a great regret of mine that this piece doesn't play in the background every time I step into a room.
• Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre - I feel the same about this as about Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.
• Tchaikovsky - Waltz of the Flowers, Dmitry Shostakovich - Waltz No. 2 and, like, every single old Russian waltz out there because a good waltz makes me feel Emotions.
• Diana Damrau's performance of the Queen of the Night aria from Mozart's The Magic Flute - Look her up. Please. She's wonderful... well, 'jaw-dropping' might be a better word.

Also seriously, please do recommend more classical music to me - I'm about to listen to the entirety of Saint Matthew Passion because I've never heard a full recording, but I'm really looking to branch out right now. I oughta dig up that Beethoven CD/booklet I own...

I rarely read TV Tropes, but I like seeing these two guys being appreciated. They've done a lot for my understanding of classical music in a very fun way and I really respect them for that.
