Awesome, thanks!
I did, just now, find something equally terrible.
Harry has Elemental Powerz, and the author's connections to canon were to insert (and from my immediate memory this is word for word) various parts from the actual books into her fanfiction.
Because, you know, if everyone sees actual stuff from someone else's book, they'll know how it all fits together.
That's it- Pottersues as a source can wait. When my orientation month is up, this thing needs to die.
Sorry for the rant- I'm just mildly furious right now. But much thanks for the answer. :)

Question. by

I've been frequenting LiveJournals such as Pottersues for a while now, and some of that stuff desperately needs to die.
Is it all right to PPC a fic that someone else found (if you ask for their permission), or are you expected to locate these things yourself?
I haven't found anything near the magnitude of what's been sporked there (which is perhaps fortunate) so far.
Given time, of course, there'll undoubtedly be something I'll come across... I'm just curious, and want to get the question out of the way.

Question regarding rogue Agents by

Back during the events of the macrovirus crisis and the Mary-Sue invasion, my agents encountered Crispin's insane ex-partner, who tried to kill Crispin before Apparating away to his stolen TARDIS.
My question is, would anything have been done officially to warn agents that a dangerous rogue agents is on the loose, or would it have been up to Crispin, Maria, and Moon to let people know?

The Official Fanfiction University of Middle-Earth. I found it...somewhere, I don't remember now, and checked out Miss Cam's (the author) website, where the PPC stories are archived. Things sort of went from there.

Erm...well hi. I've recently become addicted to the PPC, starting of course with the wonderful founders' stories.
So, mostly I just wanted to say hi and stop lurking so that I could actually meet you wonderful people!
I haven't laughed this hard since the first time I watched Life of Brian. Thanks for that!
So, yeah, that's about it.
Yours in PPC solidarity,
Helen of Pylos (the other Helen; no I don't know Paris).

A troll, in fanfiction, is written intentionally to show up the stupidity of the badfic out there. Unfortunately, most are as bad, if not worse, than the actual badfic. The general view of most people is 'Why waste your time writing intentional badfic when you can be writing goodfic?'
And don't worry about feeling stupid, no-one's going to bite your head off for asking questions here. ;)

May I ask what a 'troll' is (and I feel stupid asking, but oh well)? It sounds like...something that's intentionally written badly?...
I shall still go read it and laugh though...or cry, depending on how painful it gets.

Never seen this before, but it sounds quite...not good. I think I'll go read it, as long as it doesn't do anything bad to my mental health (which is already pretty bad thanks to certain Feanorian muses). ANYWAY...being new and all, I can't offer much help in saying whether or not its been PPC'd, but I'll definitely go read it and be appaled by those evil Mary Sues.

There is a character replacement in Seven Eighths. How does one go about finding the actual canon?

If there had not been so much Weasley-bashing, I probably would have laughed my head off, and then some. Cutting off hair for an ultimate sacrifice indeed. Have you seen her version of the epilogue?
Incidentally, have you seen "Rover and the super walmart" by grrittss (or something, I can't remember)? That was my true hideous badfic, and, like you, I was enraged. There was no formatting AT ALL, no spelling, no PLOT. And all the characters were severely OOC - I think Voldemort shot Harry with a shovel. This was reported on Pottersues as well, but I didn't realise what 'Troll' meant at the time. I thought it was below the 'Toxic' rating, so yeah. When I looked at said fic again after realising it was a troll, there was nothing that could spoil the sheer st00pid. It was hilarious.

I've done the same thing. Ever heard of "Harmony Hippogriff At Hogwarts?" It was the first true hideous badfic I'd seen, and at the time I was just totally enraged. The author's other works were of like kind- total character replacement, bashing of her hated characters, urple prose, and calling Hermione "Mione," which somehow especially bothers me.
Like you, I found out for sure it was a troll when Pottersues reported it.

A very famous troll, at that. As in, quite possibly the most famous troll in the HP fandom. It was reported on Pottersues a couple of years back before being uncovered as such - that's the only reason I know it's a troll. Most of the earlier reviews are actually funnier than the fic, if you look. I don't blame you for thinking it's genuine, though, it had me fooled for ages. :P

Sorry, I sorta only remembered that as you said it. I'm still unused to using Wikis, and for the most part, I adopt a 'Look, don't touch' policy in case I do stuff something big up. Like press the big shiny button that says 'Self Destruct'.
