Amalthea was going to get involved with unicorns in her fic? That settles it: her name was definitely stolen from the titular character of The Last Unicorn. For shame!

Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!
This list is also available as a Atom/RSS feed

Regarding minis, the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter mini pages have sub-pages intended to identify every known mini. My pipe dream is that every entry should have a citation, starting from the original lists curated by Miss Cam and Meir Brin, respectively, and continuing with missions wherever possible. Other mini articles could have similar sub-pages if warranted, or just do the same thing on the main page if the list of minis isn't too long.
Things is, I'm not motivated to actually do this except maybe for the OFUs' original lists and stuff I already know about.
Same with Killed Badfics: I'm all for more complete lists, but I'm not motivated to track that stuff down.
If you are, by all means have at it! If you need help with the wikitext or anything, just ask.

... with my EPC mission a couple of years back. Huinesoron and the Morrigan are simultaneously bloodthirsty sociopaths and Suvian versions of themselves. It's good fun! (I almost want to go back and continue the EPC: Don't Panic saga, with Mirror!hS going through a different partner each time.)
hS
I figure this would definitely be a closer representation of a mirror PPC than the EPC turned out to be, though I can see why Tawaki went with "Suvian minions of the Sunflower Emperor" since it more closely mirrors (ha) the Star Trek mirrorverse with its Empire. It could be that in the Mirror Multiverse the Sunflower Emperor took over like the Mysterious Somebody did in the Prime Multiverse, leading to a delayed Reorganisation in 2008 for them.
At least in my take on the EPC the Mirror!DIS/White Cats did more than just oppose the Emperor; they appear to function as a Mirror Multiverse informant branch of the PPC. It might align with the PPD as well if any of the White Cats have canon-protection inclinations...
[BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!]
Emergency! The original PPC has disappeared, as I so rudely found out this morning when I decided to re-read the last chapter. Not only that, but the author "HarpWire" is (according to FF.net) "no longer an active member of Fanfiction.net".
All across FFn, we can find evidence of the great Takedown of May 11th, 2002 - the date Protectors of the Plot Continuum was unceremoniously deleted from FFn. mulberry devoted an entire chapter of their spinoff to it:
Clan of the Cactus: EMERGENCY!! by mulberry
Which has a lot of discussion in the reviews. But you can also find reviews on Protectors of the Plot Discontinuum and The enterprise expands as the PPC community let each other know what was going on. There must have been more such reviews elsewhere, but either the fics or the authors followed J&A into exile.
What happened? PFFT, do you think early-noughts FFn was in the habit of telling people? One of the reviews speculates on it being "the flamers", which suggests the PPC review section wasn't as rosy as the A/Ns might imply. Acacia, in an email coming "tomorrow", will speculate on it being "sheer volume of Suvian complaints". That certainly tracks with FFn's track record of just giving in and taking down fics that were causing a fuss.
Another possibility is that the PPC was deemed to violate the ban on interactive fiction. They'd definitely been getting more involved with their readers of late, and if the flamers saw a button they could push... (this is what happened to the original OFUDisc a couple of years later, for the record).
So here you are: waking up on May 11th (a Saturday morning!) to find that the new PPC mission you'd spotted yesterday and saved for the weekend was gone. Wiped from existence. And unless you happened to have Jay or Acacia's emails saved, there was absolutely nothing you could do about it.
It's gonna be a long 24 hours before someone steps up to help.

(No time for the mission this morning!)
Ah, there's Joe Bob! Still feels weird to read about good food in the cafeteria. Boy, I really forgot about the Flowers "eating" crystals. Must be some kind of chemical fertilizer? The maligning of sea life continues, however, as Architeuthis here seems to imply an octopus' tentacles aren't already surrounding their mouth. I have to assume someone who names herself after squid would know that, though; maybe she was trying to simplify the description for readers unfamiliar with that fact?
Nice to see Alice get a big cameo! Archie's attitude towards her feels a little disrespectful towards a mearh, though. I guess Agent Architeuthis is just a get-the-job-done sort? At least, knowing Alice is just about sapient, I can assume she consented to the nanites, etc. Also nice to see the PPC's first in-text approval of a goodfic! It makes sense for an Intelligence spin-off to involve some, compared to one set in an action department.

Another first for the PPC: the first known appearance of an alternate, or even anti-PPC!
Protectors of the Plot Discontinuum: Chapter 1 by Elenya Aurelin
On my timelines I've had this down as an alternate timeline of the EPC, the Mirror Multiverse version of the PPC, but... to be honest I think it might just be the EPC. It doesn't look like "Protectors of the Plot Discontinuum" is used as a name in the narrative, so yeah, they're just Mirror Assassins 4-6 years before Tawaki formally introduced the EPC.
Which... given what else happened today, suggests a very interesting theory on where the Mirror Multiverse came from. But more on that tomorrow, when the other half of the evidence gets here.
I'm jumping the gun slightly, but I found something cool in the reviews: both Jay and Acacia reviewed this story, separately and at different times. That's cool!

I think it might have something to do with the wiki migrating to a different wiki host site? Oh well.
(And the last time I edited my comment away, it was intended as a joke. But yeah, I do tend to do that a lot...)
Firstly, because it sounds like you have an issue more broadly with Fandom.com as a whole, or, based on this thread, with your internet/network settings. The PPC hasn't had an IT department since the Marigold was exiled back in '99, we can't fix your computer. :)
Secondly, because you've provided, like, zero information. I have five different sign-in options for Fandom, along with the "Forgotten password?" option. Your issue could be anything from "sometimes when the username/password fields autofill you have to click away to let the login button activate", through "your Apple account has been disabled", right up to "Fandom have blocked your IP address". The only thing I can really say is: works for me on Chrome and Edge, so nothing's wrong with the Wiki.
(Also, general comment while I'm here: there's no need to edit your comments to people out of existence once they've addressed them. The Board's edit function should be used sparingly, otherwise things get confusing. Thank you!)

I see a lot of killed badfics that aren't indexed on the killed badfic lists but are on agent and continuum pages, and since the killed badfic lists are the most convenient way one browses for missions (not everyone has the time to snoop around all character and continuum pages to hunt for them), incomplete listing can lead people to report/claim/mission already killed fics by mistake. I've already spotted a lot (especially in the PotC fandom); does anyone else see anything I've missed?
A related issue is incomplete mini type listing; same as above, can lead to people overwriting a finalized mini type by mistake, and Free minis were not on the list for a while.
It has its own page on the wiki (which I created), which should give you an overview. I'm pretty familiar with the show, and I'm pretty sure I've read through the badfic. While not too implausible a crossover, there is definitely lots of OOC.
I'll make my email available, so you can email me, if you'd like.
Ah, a Joker Sue? In that case, Thalia Quinn would love to show up ;). I don’t think I am familiar with that first fandom but I know enough about DC to spork it.
For some reason, I can't sign in on Fandom, at all, on any device. And I can't use the reset password button either! Anyone else having problems?
Please kill it! Just make it go away...(whimpers)
But if that is the case I'd love to do a co-write! Like, soon. In fact, there's a crossover on the Unclaimed Badfic page between one of my favorite fandoms and DC that I'd love to tackle - though I'd personally make the sporking a little nicer. It's called Miraculous: Joker's Daughter. Not sure if you are familiar with the first fandom, though.
While I'm not sure I have it in me to go digging around to see what, if anything, I came up with years ago for actual baronial heraldry (though I think there was something), I did just read through the last Plort story I wrote and...I feel like Eshakhar Na'Shirah's story could use an update. It's been two years, and things are a bit different IRL. I can even almost see the outline of a short story...I guess we'll see if I write it, and, if so, how long it takes me to finish!

Unless the rules have changed when I wasn't looking, a cowrite (or multiple) between a person with Permission and a person without it is perfectly fine. The person without Permission will have to get it if they want to start writing PPC stuff solo, but cowrites are allowed (again, unless I've missed a change). I expect the idea is that the person with Permission, and betas, will catch anything that doesn't fit. This should be on one of the FAQ pages on the wiki, IIRC, or on the Permission page? One of those.

Thanks for the comment regardless 😊
(downs barrels of brain bleach)
That's a fun point you made about the weird missions breaking up the monotony of the less creative ones. Maybe not something a lot of agents would admit, but it makes sense! That was a clever "assassination," as well.
—doctorlit thinks destroying food sounds rather cathartic, actually
I finished reading chapter 2. I have now read something I truly believed no one would ever write, and I must share my pain. But be warned, this is NSFW and very NSFB. Do not unspoiler this if you're unprepared for cis male anatomy, strangely colored bodily fluids, traumatic alien childbirth, or a truly astonishing combination of the three.
I mean it, this is big anatomy fail and big squick.
No. I don't care if John isn't technically a human; even if he were a frelling hyena, this would not work! He was described as being big enough to waddle, dammit! (And don't even get me started on the gestation timeline.) NO! Bad! No biscuit!
And the grammar is atrocious. }= <
And also, I still have no idea why anything in this story is happening. I'll let you know if I find out! {= D
~Neshomeh
Not sure why.
I’m not on the Discord either. Though I am fairly active on the wiki. (As RumbridgeXVolzemort.)
