Back before I moved out of my parents' house, I had printed a couple of decks out and played with my brother (not a Boarder).
—doctorlit still has the decks, might bring them to Chicago this summer?
Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!
This list is also available as a Atom/RSS feed

You (or at least I) can still find the images with some clicking around, though. For example, here's the Fifth Generation album.
The Fifth Generation Rules link on the site works for me, too.
If you couldn't tell from the website, Huinesoron is the creator of the Card Game, and I'm sure he'll be happy to tell you more about it. {= )

So I was taking a look around the backlogs when I found this old post, which talks about what's apparently the "Fifth Generation" of the aptly named PPC Card Game. It seems interesting, but the links on the post (more specifically, the links on the neocities page that's connected) don't work so it's, um, pretty old, actually. 2012, to be specific, which definitely doesn't feel like a decade ago, but is very much long before I arrived here.
Anyway, so does anyone know how this worked or what it was about? I'm genuinely curious about it. Thanks!

Did any of you ever meet Jay and Acacia?
Is it a terrible Valentine? Sure! But look, not everyone is into Valentine's Day, and it's a good practical reminder to prioritize life's necessary chores amid a pageant of shallow frills and frippery designed mainly to make the rich richer. I can get behind that! {X D

He violates a peace treaty and tries to exterminate an entire people for the sake of personal vengeance. How the fic sees that as just "bad attitude" is beyond me.
We've got our first [BEEEP]! Hilariously, it's supposed to only be for urgent messages, so I guess the Flowers have just been slamming the panic button ever since.
I admire the fact that they were willing to shake up the format with the disguises so quickly. I would've expected several different actual disguises before they broke the generator, but this is mission 3!
We also see the first appearance of Makes-Things - a cowed young man, for all we've kind of kicked that characterisation to the side since - and the invisible yarn. I love the invisible yarn. ^_^
And the mission really crystalizes that the agents don't take on Suvians head to head. Why bother? Just be sneaky, it's easier. (Though admittedly Acacia does apparently solo the entire Fellowship, and implies she could have killed them if she'd been allowed. Maybe she was just boasting.)

(Precise date uncertain)
Once they got starting, Jay and Acacia clearly saw no reason to slow down. Probably in the same week as "Chosen", they released their THIRD mission:
As before, I'd like to invite you to read along with PPC+20, and experience the early days of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum in real time.
The badfic for this mission is lost - it was lost early, so early that Jay and Acacia's own records say "Author forgotten - story taken down". But more exciting than badfic is Jay's invitation in her A/N:
And if you want to write your own PPC... go for it! Boldly! It'd be great if it became a tradition.
It would not be long before people took her up on the offer.

Okay, he's played by Lee Pace, but he's still a blue-skinned, bulkily armored mass-murderer.
Not gonna read it but aaaaaaaaaa that description.
Behold as cinematic-verse Ronan the Accuser gets raped, yes, raped, by a super glittery Mary Sue with a silly name and later marries her. Ronan is either possessed by bad-het-wraith or replaced, as he acts like a wimp-ass uke (even though this is het), and the fic has this to say about him; note that this is movie-verse:
He was a kind man, despite his bad attitudeI beg your Smauging pardon?
Even without all that cringy content, the fic is rather short and not competent enough in terms of technique to be truly anger-inducing bad, so I guess that's a plus?
The characters t-posing and the Sue rolling around in glitter while tantrumming were funny mental images!
Also, the Sue was indeed spoiled.

SPaG-wise, the piece seems overall fine to me. There's just two things I think are wrong:
-On a related note, lines of dialogue, and sometimes actions that are part of a conversation, also usually have paragraph breaks between them
Now, content-wise, I'm not sure that the deaths of 17000 people, bit characters or not, and the destruction of an entire floating town slash high school would only warrant a transfer to a punishment detail, but I suppose that depends how bad the fics they get sent to are.
Aside from that I liked it. The prose is fine, the characters are fine, and I think they have the start of a nice dynamic going. Aside from the Zuikaku sinking I thought the tone was fine. I also thought having Agents who enjoyed Missions (for now) was a nice twist on the formula.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
Several years ago I did some PPC/IAHF-themed Valentines, and this year I thought I’d do a couple more with some more agents.
L-R Top: Chris and his Meganium (eatpraylove), Selene (hS)
L-R Bottom: The Notary (Scape), Dafydd Illian (hS, with pick up line penned by Ekwy)
L-R by text: Dawn McKenna (Zing), Liu Siyuan (me), Jacques Bonnefoy (Zing) and Jenni Robinson (Nesh)
LSY’s holding a handkerchief because it’s a pun on his name: 思 (si) means thoughts, and can mean lovesickness, and 丝 (si) means silk, which is what handkerchiefs are made of. The thoughts part of his pick up line is also a reference to his name.
Jenni and Jacques are dancing as per today’s instalment of Attachments, which you totally should go read.
I have a couple others that I will be finalising tomorrow, since it’s past midnight here. Happy Valentines, and keep an eye out for the followup!
For this occasion we are pleased to present Like a Wink and a Smile Episode 2, Part 3: "Shall We Dance?" (AO3)
This chapter features the stroll through scenic New Caledonia that was supposed to happen and dancing at Club Aujourd'hui.
As always, if you're new to LWS, we recommend starting the series from the beginning with "Crossing the Coffee Table" (AO3) and "Attachments" Parts 1 and 2 (AO3).
Cheers to Lily Winterwood for illustrating an image from Part 3 with text from Part 1 for one of this year's PPC Valentines!
Keep an eye out for more of these coming up in another thread. ^_^
Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy the story. Be our Valentine and let us know what you think! ❤️

If you've had that name in mind for a while, please keep it! Your protagonist should have higher priority than a side-character I made up on the fly. {= )
OTOH, if you're not that attached to it, it might help not to have two characters with the same name in stories running at the same time.

A couple years ago, I compiled a playlist of all* the songs referenced in TOS. For a more complete early-aughts experience, have a listen! Please be aware that some tracks are NSFW, especially the Insane Clown Posse one.
* Well, all but two. I left out "Kumbaya" for reasons of cultural sensitivity and "The Oscar Mayer Wiener Jingle" because it's only mentioned off-hand, sixty-one isn't as nice a number as sixty, and I am not unmerciful.
Let me know if anything is broken. You never know with YouTube.

I'm looking for someone that can tell me if the SpAGhetti is well cooked, if the writing reads correctly and if the PPC is properly portrayed. No specific fandom lore required.
No, surely not! It couldn't be! A permission request?
But it is :D
(I have a nagging feeling it will be denied, but either way, I get feedback and I got better at writing, so it's a win no matter what)
Oops.
(For reference sakes, I've pronouncing it like the Neopet species that I keep mispelling Acacia as. First selection under Neopet at this page.)
-kA, who is aware of how silly this is. Their brain is just silly.
