I think you’re referring to climate change, but your original post was so vague, it could have been referring to virtually any disaster, from an alien invasion to the Second Coming. (Which I guess could be considered synonymous, now that I think about it, except the Second Coming shouldn’t make humanity extinct anyway so that was a bad example aughhghafafsfvjkl.)

is a game, not necessarily New Year, generally played by two people and overseen by one or two referees. The players sit on either side of a wooden block – "pillow" – with a target – "butterfly" – placed on top and take turns throwing folding fans to knock the butterly off the pillow. I looked up all the games/poem you referenced on Wikipedia to understand the context better. The one that didn't work out is Tōsenkyō, which it claims is a mountain, rather than a fan-throwing sport. Mind explaining what the fan version is a bit?

Huh. That's an interesting comparison you bring up between Kaguya and Vil. They are very similar, yet Inasuke idolizes the canon character while despising his own teammate. Inasuke calls Kaguya lazy, yet we know Kaguya puts an incredible amount of effort into his appearance and his ceremonial rituals, not to mention his gaming! I guess Inasuke just doesn't like the idea of Momoka being Kaguya's servant, like I initially didn't? I hope Momoka will get the opportunity to speak her mind and show Insuke she isn't a slave!

I'm curious to learn in future stories what Kaguya's untranslated dialogue was, and why his demeanor has changed so much because of this mission . . .

I could definitely see Shakespeare intending some satire that kinda missed the target there, yeah. Given how witch-burnings were happening at the time, I imagine they took that about as well as a Jewish person at the time might have taken Shylock.

I think JKR said she named Pansy that because she was bullied by a Pansy in school or something? But yeah, not a fun correlation, and honestly Pansy was really one-note in the books, which ultimately cheapened the house unity message they were trying for in the later years. We’ll see how this rebellion of hers works out…

I'm so sorry I didn't get to this before it fell off the front page! I've been fighting an infection and a sore throat, so I haven't had much energy outside of work. : (

Oh dear, I can see why those witches would be irritated by their "cameos" in Macbeth! Although considering how they're compared with Macbeth in the play ("something wicked this way comes"), I can also imagine Shakespeare intending it as a bit of satire: "You think our magical neighbors are spooky and weird, get a load of what obsessive ambition can do to us Muggles!"

Wow, and here comes Pansy with some actual character beyond "bully!" I hope she does manage to get on the Quidditch team without catching too much flack from her parents. And I doubt she'll be able to convince Draco to lay off, but I'll be impressed if she at least tries. Jeeze, JKR really named one of her least friendly female characters, "pansy," didn't she . . .

I don't really make them anyways. I'm more of a short-term goals kind of person, like "Oh, maybe I should work on my writing a bit this week." Probably because I am utterly incapable of seeing things long-term, so I stick to day- or week-long goals. Maybe a month if I feel up to it.

It's been literally half a lifetime since you wrote "Rambling Band" and inspired Jay and Acacia to create the PPC, and you still found us. That's cool.

If you've been searching up "Rambling Band" on the Board chances are you've already run into the time I imagined a musical of the mission, but I do have another piece of tangential "Rambling Band" fanfic I'd like to share. The PPC has a long tradition of alternate multiverses - PPC fics where the PPC, the canon worlds , the fanfic, and even the "real world" that created them are different. A while back, I started rewriting the opening of the "Rambling Band" mission as it would appear in all the alternate realities we've written about before; I never finished, but I thought I'd share it:
