Skyfall's pretty cool. Fantasy, two races at almost permanent war, something up with the gods, six artifacts that're probably a key of some sort.
You may or may not've seen, but… Shades of Grey is pretty good, too. Heaven, Hell, a lot of mixup.
Mixed Myth is finished, but pretty awesome. People chase about parts of a dragon, one part tries to take over the world.
Sea of Insanity uses Greek mythology. Mainly follows a nymph who used to date Apollo, Calliope who does duty as her muse, her doctor who turns into a fish, and some guy.
And… it's not really a webcomic, as such, but I wouldn't be counting on seeing it on shelves too soon. Axis Powers Hetalia is worth a look, though your mileage may vary, given it portrays history (the main storyline following WWII) with anthropomorphized nations.
Johnny Walker is a kind of slice-of-life thing. The artist Aido has done some other pretty awesome stuff, and is currently subbing at Applegeeks, which also might be worth checking out.

"I'd also suggest that rape and non-con are almost always NC-17"
Damn, damn, and damn just for the hell of it. I've got a fic with a rape scene in and I wanted to know where the cut-off point was. I usually wouldn't include something like that, but I want to really drive it in that it's not fun. Because I get really pissed off by the writers that have them demand comfort sex five minutes later.
"And whatever rating you choose, always WARN for: slash or het (because people like to know before clicking the link) non-con, dub-con, threesomes/unusual pairings, underage!, kink, bad language, violence and character death."
I have pairing warnings in my list of stories. I mention non-con etc in the specific chapter. I have no threesomes. Underage varies for me, because it depends HOW underage they are. Kink... don't think I have. Bad language I rarely warn for because I rarely use (and the M rating generally covers it anyway). Violence and death, rarely use because that kind of spoils things in my opinion.
Dub-con? Dubious consensual issues? Correct? And is that the "started-liking-it-then-hated-it" and the "hated-it-then-liked-it" stuff?

Why do you think I was asking? :P
"It seems that if you name all the bit parts by their proper names it's graphic (or too graphic for FFnet)."
Damn. My rule is (apart from trying to avoid euphemisms as much as possible) to always call things by their biological names (pen*s, vag*na etc) and never to turn crude (c*ck, c*nt etc). That, to me, separates the sex from the porn.
Thanks for the response though.

The Vampire King of Narnia
A Narnia/Twilight/The O.C crossover, in which Peter Pevensie is turned into a vampire by a Mary-Sue vampire named Summer. Terrible, terrible writing.
Cheers to Trojie and Pads for beta reading.
By the way, as there's been so much debate recently over how good or terrible Twilight actually is, I now have the book and will be putting up a review once I'm finished. I want to judge it fairly. Anyway, it'll be on my LJ, but if anyone's interested, I can post it (or a link to it) here. Should I?

I must second xkcd!
And to add one that hasn't been posted yet, I absolutely love A Softer World, a one-shot collaborative comic, made up of Emily's photos and Joey's text. It's brief, hilarious, graceful, creepy, macabre, and often thought-provoking. Here is what they wrote in the description for one of their t-shirts:
Here's what's going to happen when you wear this shirt out: A really attractive person is gonna come up to you and say "Oh, A Softer World! I read that too! Man, I wonder what the heck is wrong with that Joey guy, seriously? Who thinks up things like that? Anyway can I buy you a coffee or something -- Oh my God, I'm sorry I didn't realize you two were together! Faux pas!" And then as the three of you awkwardly laugh off the faux pas the person will slip a small piece of paper in your jacket pocket. When you get home you will notice it and unfold it. On the paper will be the following message:
YOU ARE BEING WATCHED

I forget which, but one of the really big Doctor Who sites had so many people bitching about the emo hair that the servers crashed.
Unfortunately there is scope for bad 11/Rose fics. Not canonical scope, obviously, but idiotic AU scope the fanbrats may jump at, since this new chap's been in something that involved him being in bed with Billie Piper.
He must be bloody good, from what the various producery type people were saying on Doctor Who Confidential. He won them all over on the first day of auditions. So long as it wasn't with evil Samsonesque superpowers, it ought to be alright.

Either version is worthy of PPCing, and she's an active threat to canon.
Incidentally, why is it that missions against force sensitives never seem to involve the ysalamir? They are canon in the 'verse, and would be highly effective. Timeline stuff isn't really that much of a problem, as people have known how to get them off the branches for quite some time as of the Thrawn era.

FFnet doesn't allow MA rated stuff, but says the rating is for graphic sex and graphic violence. But what is graphic?
It seems that if you name all the bit parts by their proper names it's graphic (or too graphic for FFnet). Talking in metaphores and similies would often be okay for M, or even T (though will probably make half the people here want to slap you).
I once wrote a scene were there was one mention of how blood splattered. I offered it for consideration to an administrator of a fanfic site/forum and suggested an M rating. They said I should scratch the sentence about the blood and tag on an M rating (while the blood sentence was the only reason I thought it should be M). It's currently on FFnet with the blood line and rated T. Used to be M, but the rest of the story so is not, and I don't think the one sentence has enough shock effect in it to warrant the M.
And really do warn for things. There's another story, in the same fandom as my above mentioned story, where a torture scene takes place. It's rated T, but I stopped reading when the first joint popped. I asked the author to at least warn for gore if they weren't going to mark their story as M. The torture is built up slowly, and that's just too much drama (for lack of a better word) for a T rated fic.

... that while I think there've been Agents without LOs before (a couple, in the game, I mean), having no LO and a special ability which raises a stat which is /only used in association with the LO/ seems a bit weird. So you might want to edit Agent Sonata a bit. :P
(And I'll make these tonight, or try to)

... where I always think of the line as being is; M = swearing frequent but not incessant and/or moderate violence and/or sex scenes that exist but aren't graphic.
NC-17 = incessant bad language and/or graphic violence and/or graphic sex.
I'd also suggest that rape and non-con are almost always NC-17 even if not gone into in too much detail (just a mention in passing could be M, but if you have such a scene, even a vague one, it ought to be NC-17).
And whatever rating you choose, always WARN for: slash or het (because people like to know before clicking the link) non-con, dub-con, threesomes/unusual pairings, underage!, kink, bad language, violence and character death.
-Trojie
PS: I believe that ff.net do not allow NC-17 type stories or graphic sex scenes. I'm not sure of the details, though, so I advise checking their terms and conditions etc.

Yep, she's not from anything officially published. Cham isn't a canon either, so that was a bit of a writing fumble on my part in not making it clear enough.
Anyway, sorry for the Flower slip, I wasn't entirely sure how to go about writing one of them. I did try read up on the Kdzu though. [/excuse making]
As to your other question; sure, go ahead! I don't mind at all. ^^

She's from a role-play based on Battle Royale, but she's not, in fact, a character from any officially published work? I just want to make sure I understand it right. If you frequently have a temptation to lift minor characters from canon works (Agent Cham?), I'm going to tell you right now to get over it.
The writing sample could use a little bit of work, but it's nothing a beta wouldn't catch: a few commas where there should be periods and a few places where it wasn't clear who was supposed to be speaking. Also, please avoid interrobangs. They tend to be more annoying than anything else, and I'm pretty sure none of the Flowers would ever indulge in them. Other than that, I enjoyed it. {= )
Pending your response, this is a tentative Permission Granted.
Taking off my PG Hat now: mind if I borrow Nurse Barker for a story set around the Invasion? He seems entertaining. *g* (Your response to this particular question will not affect your status vis a vis Permission.)

I know the feeling. Everyone has their own Doctor, the one they'll always keep a special spot in their heart for. Mine was Nine, and I still mourn his passing. Such is the nature of the show. There will always be another Doctor, and there will always be another Companion. Just try to keep an open mind for each new arrival.
And hey--we still have a little more time left with Tennant. And who knows, maybe Eleven will get a haircut before Series 5 starts (they have, what, a year left?). Hope that cheers you up.
Also, I highly doubt that the BBC will cut down on the ridiculously gorgeous men in the next few seasons. Just a hunch.
