Even here I learn things new, getting better at this new song you sing, though it does seem as the rules of the language get moving, they abruptly change course. The rabbits did denote for a song full of exceptions, there is much pretending that none is allowed. so 26 words used to be said now used as one, it caused a bit of a ripple... Not entirely bad. So don't be surprised if a rabbit says the word love up to twenty-six times. The place where we go next will help that for they will be exposed to the idea of adding time dilation to say things like love to the 4th power. it seems to be needed to cut down the time when a simple good night lasts all night so as not to lose the intention. Must check into that before something weird happens and turns them into Rabbids.

to Neshomeh, One of the worst mistakes is to let an unknown slight remain as a taste and to be honest it should have been plain as day as the inquisition to the Vato. and the difference in dialect. in this humans are strange to me but the essence of slight remains. pardon one that travels through at times way too fast and bound to the natures of such.

(I know, I said I had left. But while lurking to check for replies in my TWWA plug thread I thought it was my turn to be the good samaritan)

The speech pattern of this "guy" has some kind of coherency in its being incoherent - kinda reminds me of those "we fed lots of this tipe of novel to this Ai and then asked it to try writing one" eperiments. In this case, I suspect the Board, and maybe part of the Wiki, were what it was instructed to read. Case it point: it used HQ in the same post as it used the Flowers, but failed to capitalize the latter - an AI bot would of course fail to recognize the difference between our sentient, capital F Flowers and regular flora.

Looking at the posting hours, they seem to be evenly spread throughout the day and the night - while it might be the work of an insomniac or of someone with wild working shifts, it also fits perfectly with a bot instructed to post every few hours to keep the thread going.

I suspect it has been let loose under someone's direct control - it isn't interacting outside of this thread. However, I cannot be sure.

So, these are my theories:

-AI chatbot that has been let loose by someone (a cheeky Boarder, or someone "external") just for the lulz. That would be what I hope.

-AI chatbot let loose by a troll. We had our fair share of trolls here, there's people who hate our guts with a passion, so I don't think it's too implausible that there is someone who is going "haha they're confused by my bot they're so stupid" out there.

-AI chatbot like those used to build up "reputation" for scam youtube accounts by posting gibberish comments on random videos (Apparently, having lots of non-reported comments makes them less likely to be banned when they start posting the scam ones). Though exactly what such a bot would be attempting to do here is beyond me - on a small, actively moderated board like this one Mr. Gibberish would be zapped on sight if it suddenly started advertising phone hacks or the like. This is the worst case scenario, and the one I'm most afraid of - but, at the same time, it isn't really a dangerous one. As I said, a zap would happen as quickly as that of a regular spambot if it were to show that as its true nature.

My two cents: So far, it isn't harmful. Have fun with it if you want - but if it posts any link, stay away from them.

I can't say I'm familiar with chatbots, but if this were an AI fed on the Board and/or wiki, wouldn't it have picked up our capitalization and punctuation habits (i.e. correct ones) more broadly? And, since this poster generally fails to capitalize anything except names, and that only sometimes, I wonder less that they don't capitalize "flower" and more that they bother with "HQ." It's also inconsistent with non-PPC terms: "Ph.D." in one paragraph, "phd" in another, in the same post.

I don't think a bot could have come up with the Hebrew version of my screen name, either—which is thoroughly wrong, by the way, because "neshomeh" is a variant spelling of the word in Yiddish, but Zingenmir can explain that better than I can; she's got a post in the works. My point is, it certainly didn't get that from us.

I'm also not sure a bot could intelligently respond indirectly to posts other than the one it's directly replying to, which this poster does a few times. (For a given value of "intelligence.")

Oh, and it has dropped a couple of links in various posts, but not in a spammy advert sort of way? I Googled 'em, because I was suspicious, but they were both legit websites, and unrelated to each other.

I'm more inclined to think there is a person behind all this. Just one who isn't nearly as smart as they think they are.

Yes, you have been confusing. You seem to think this is some sort of "game" or "trap" or that you're proving yourself better than us. That you've somehow weighed and measured us. No matter how many times you laugh at us for not understanding your utter gibberish, it doesn't make your work a maze, nor clever. You haven't built a maze, you've done the equivalent of cramming every room of a house full of broken furniture. Yes, it would be possible to thread our way through it! But it would be pointless. If this is a newbie or existing Boarder playing some strange game - they're fine. If it's a bot or troll which limits itself to non-harmful behaviour in this thread - it's fine.

If it engages in harmful behaviour, eg posting malicious links or advertising, or if it attempts to spread this style of posting outside this thread - it will be edited or blocked as spam as required.

That makes a lot of sense. Hence the nonsensical yet relevant replies. Probably a gibberish bot (eg https://thinkzone.wlonk.com/Gibber/GibGen.htm). The words seem familiar, because they are. They're almost certainly generated from the wiki, given some of the phrasing. Probably carefully, so that there aren't any agents, mostly just pages HQ and Flowers esque. Given that they don't mention many things aside from HQ and Flowers, probably a small sample.

As for who released it, I'm inclined to believe a troll. They want to annoy and infuriate us, so they've done this. Just ignore the bot. It'll reply whenever anyone replies, so stop replying basically.

Let's just leave it alone from now on, then the bot should shut up

You should not be enemies against the English language that confuses me - that language is nothing but a middle ground. English, Latin, Swahili and Yiddish all have the same value, as long as they allow people to understand and understand each other. This is what he says about all, and not those who say it. For those who don't read Hebrew, נְשָׁמָה‎ means "soul" and is pronounced neshama. The reference is to Neshomeh.

However, the word "neshomeh" is not, in fact, somehow grammatically incorrect Hebrew. It's actually Yiddish, a Jewish language once very widely spoken by Ashkenazi Jews (in Germany, Eastern Europe, North America, UK, etc). Yiddish is about 20% Hebrew and Aramaic.

These loanwords get a different pronunciation (shabbat to shabbes, sakh hakol to sakhakl, levana to levoneh, mokhel to moykhl, etc), while retaining their original spelling instead of being transliterated (except for Soviet Yiddish, which is a special case and transliterated Hebrew and Aramaic words deliberately to strip them of religious/ethnic origin).

In this case, as mentioned, we're looking at a Hebrew loanword which is pronounced neshama in Hebrew and means "soul" (it means that in Yiddish as well). While it does originally come from Hebrew, seen above with the diacritical marks (nikud; not actually commonly used day to day except for kids and language learners, plus partial nikud for the occasional word that would otherwise be mistaken for another spelled the same way even with context clues), it's very much legitimately Yiddish. Real word, right language, grammatically correct. Written נשמה (no diacritics necessary, as it's a loanword and Yiddish loanwords generally don't get any) and pronounced neshomeh or neshumeh (there may be other variations as well; I don't know all the dialects). Talking in rhyme is good fun if you can pull it off, but I'm gonna be a stick-in-the-mud and request that you use correct capitalization and punctuation while you do it. It IS a rule in our Constitution that thou shalt make thyself legible, after all, and others have noted that it's a bit tricky to follow what you're saying so far. Aside from keeping up the general standard of a community that criticizes bad writing, some of us speak English as a second language, so please be considerate.
